One of the reasons why diabetes patients can help prevent this disease is because of the fact that this disease is mostly caused by and fueled by an unhealthy lifestyle. Type II Diabetes is usually seen in people who have a lifestyle that includes eating fast foods, eating fatty foods filled with cholesterol, living an inactive lifestyle and not exercising at all etc. All of these will put you in the high risk category as you can end up with diabetes.

Unfortunately just like Type I Diabetes, this disease also requires medication and drug therapy to keep under control. It is not fully treatable and thus you need to use medication and other treatment methods to keep it under your control. However, in some forms of Type II Diabetes, it has been seen that it may be possible for it to be controlled through diet and exercise. Although most doctors won’t tell you, you can halt Type II Diabetes through Diet & Exercise and yet patients aren’t likely to follow the advice.
According to a research by the University of Illinois at Chicago, it has been seen that in some light forms of Type II Diabetes, the insulin levels and your blood sugar levels can be kept under your control. This is important since most of the time the body has some control capacity over the hormone insulin and the way it is metabolized in the body. Hence, by strict dieting and by careful exercising, you can keep your insulin levels under control and thus you might not even need extra medication in some cases. However, in other cases in which you do need the medication, you will have the peace of mind knowing that you can live a natural life.
First of all, in order to halt Type II Diabetes, you will have to make sure that you do not eat sugary foods that will increase your blood sugar levels. However, besides obvious foods, you will also have to make sure that you stay away from carbohydrate type foods as these will have hidden sugar inside of them. These foods will include potatoes, carrots and yams so that you will have to stay away from them. In addition, any type of food with starch in it or even baked breads and cakes can effect your glycolic levels.
Of course, it is also important for you to follow a regular exercise program that helps you to lower your blood pressure and also to keep your cholesterol level along with your weight under control. This exercise program can range from daily activities such as walking and swimming to more rigorous exercises and even sports. However, most physicians will be reluctant to allow patients to halt the progress of Type II Diabetes with exercise and dieting, since most patients won’t follow through with strict dieting and exercise.
