More women experience anxiety but men experience it too! I had dinner with a male friend a couple of weeks ago and we talked a lot about our lives. He is a very successful salesman but underneath it all he suffers a lot of anxiety. He recently became a single dad of 3 girls and has a lot of pressure in his sales job, constantly striving to be more and more successful. Dealing with the loss of someone close to us can be very difficult for anyone to handle. It was devastating when my girlfriend’s mother died. She started to realize how much she was forgetting things shortly after her mom’s passing. Being a perfectionist, super organized and always on the ball forgetting things really started to make her feel uneasy. If she misplaced her keys or forgot an appointment it would drive her into an anxiety attack. However, she immediately thought that this forgetfulness must be from some sort of undiagnosed disease and then those thoughts would attack her… what if it’s cancer or a brain tumor? What if I die? I went to a restaurant with some girlfriends a few nights ago whom I’d met through my anxiety support group. One of them brought another friend whom I was just meeting for the first time. She had suffered with anxiety as well. When she walked into the room she held herself so beautifully, her confidence radiated and I wanted whatever it was that made her that way. I wanted to ask her if the Panic Away Program helped her to become so confident? After talking all night I finally felt comfortable enough to ask her what her secret was.
