Make Cereals Count With Low Carb

How many times have you been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet you cannot be bothered to go look hard for it when all you want to do after waking up is to eat something? You want something filling right here, right now. Low carb dieters would naturally want eggs, but they can get old pretty quickly. But they could take a while to prepare, a fact that is discouraging especially to those of us who are pressed for time in the mornings. That is the reason cereal has become almost a staple in every breakfast meal.

Milk can be added to the cereal, or you can eat it by itself especially when you are running out of time. Cereal can be eaten in many ways. The downside to cereal is that it is usually not low-carb friendly.

Some manufacturers have come out with supposedly low carb cereal, but it is usually hardly suitable for any low carb dieter and definitely not for any serious low carb dieter. Although dubbed as low carb, surprisingly, they have wheat and grains in their ingredients that are normally pinpointed to be the main causes of problems caused by high carbohydrate diets. This makes them not-so-good options, really. However there are some low carb cereals that are not made from grains, and you should look for these grain-free options when you are shopping around. Therefore, look carefully at the ingredients list to make sure the cereal doesn’t contain grains.

The problem with grains is that they cannot be digested properly by the body. Our body would require millions of years before they can properly evolve to eating grains. History shows that grains had evolved to keep animals and humans from ingesting them. Toxins are purposefully incorporated in them just to make sure of that. They contain toxins that are used to ward off humans and animals from eating them in the future. That is the reason why one cannot eat raw grains. Uncooked rice, when ingested, could be catastrophic. Cooking the grains thoroughly may break down these toxins and other harmful components, but they won’t entirely disappear. That’s precisely why, when the body is subjected to prolonged ingestion of grains, there can be lasting damage.

Since low carb cereal is hard to find, we often have to make do with other low carb breakfast foods. One of them is hot cereal. You can easily make a bowl of porridge using flax meal and milk. This will make a low carb cereal within a few minutes. It has a porridge-like consistency that will surely satisfy you as much as fill you up.

If hot cereals aren’t your cup of tea, pancakes are another option. If you use coconut flour, you will have low carb pancakes. You can make these in advance and keep them in the fridge. Then just microwave and add some sugar free maple syrup for a fulfilling quick breakfast. You can also make muffins with coconut flour that you can take with you in the mornings when you are running late. Despite the unavailability of cereal, you can opt for other breakfast foods that will work very well as substitutes.
