Sinus headaches are caused by a condition called Sinusitis. Sinusitis is caused by many things such as allergies, infections, colds or even a weakened immune system. A dull throbbing pain coming from deep inside the head is felt by people suffering from sinus headaches.Once you cure your sinusitis, then any sinus headache will disappear.
When you have sinus headache, you will realize that moving your head in a certain way makes it worse whereas moving it in other ways actually reduces the pain. Occasionally, a sore throat, slight fever or cough and other flu like symptoms are seen with a sinus headache. Although these symptoms can be easily recognized and treated, the most important thing is to find out the cause of the sinusitis in you and to cure it.To treat your sinus headache you will have to take medication to cure your sinusitis. Sometimes halfway during the course of your medicine all the symptoms may disappear but it is best for you to see the course of medicine through to the end to prevent a relapse from occurring. Furthermore, you would also be given a nasal spray to reduce the inflammation. You will also be given pain killers to relive you of the headaches.
When treating a sinus headache it is important to figure out what caused the sinusitis in the first place. If by chance the sinusitis was caused by an allergy then you are better off treating the allergy as well to ensure that there isn’t a relapse. Sinus headaches are much easier to treat and to prevent a relapse from occurring than migraine or tension headaches.
Preventing sinusitis is the best way to avoid sinus headaches. Since sinus headaches are cause by sinusitis you have to take steps that prevent this chain reaction from happening. To prevent sinusitis take certain steps such as washing your hands often to lessen the chances of catching an infection, avoid smoking and get your yearly flu shot.
To arm yourself with more knowledge, do adequate research on headache sinus and methods that can be taken to prevent them from occurring. As there are a variety of drugs that can take away the pain of a sinus headache, consider researching each one carefully to decide which one would be most suitable for you. If in doubt it is always best to visit your doctor for further information.

My 2 cents: I am hoping to see less of a reliance on medications when it comes to illnesses like sinusitis. For any ENT issues, including sinus headaches, look into things like nasal irrigation (neti pot, etc.)
Even in the case of chronic sinusitis, there are options like balloon sinuplasty that do more to work with the body than traditional sinus surgery.
