Foods That Can Help Leaky Gut

Individuals who have leaky gut syndrome must include plenty of essential fatty acids in their dietary plan. These are fatty acids that the body is unable to produce naturally, and so one must make sure to get them from the dietary supplements. The essential fatty acids include linoleic acid, (omega 6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega 3). These fatty acids perform an important function in the body like maintaining cell membranes, produces regulatory hormones like prostaglandins and leukotrienes, It also helps in regulating cholesterol levels.

The omega 3 fatty acids are capable of benefiting the immune system and suppresses the tumor growth and lowers cardiovascular diseases. However one must make sure that omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids are taken in proper amounts as deviation in the amount consumed will cause certain illness in the individual. The omega 6 fatty acids are found in surplus amounts in oils of seeds and grains. Sunflower, safflower, wheat germ, sesame, pumpkin and corn oil are rich in linoleic acid as is evening primrose and borage oil, also contains Gamma Linoleic Acids. Omega 3 fatty acids can be found in fish oil, flaxseed oil, Rapeseed oil, canola and walnut oil, Green leafy vegetables, pumpkin seeds, mustard seeds, grains, soya beans and spirulina.

An individual must consume lot of fiber rich foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds etc., one can also take flaxseeds or oat bran and psyllium husks. The fiber removes the toxins and cleans the colon and replenishes the cells of the colon. Consuming lot of distilled water can also help individuals who are affected with leaky gut syndrome.
