Everything About No Carb Plans – How Do You Eat Out?

If you are doing a carb free diet plan, eating out at fast food joints like McDonald’s and sticking on your low carb plan can be a huge obstacle. Nearly everything at fast food places consists of potatoes, bread, or sugar – the biggest banned items in carb free plans! That’s difficult when you are attempting to be perfect on the plan and to not cheat at all! As we all know who have had experience with low carb diets, there is no “little” cheat when it comes to carbs. One piece of bread or cake can put your insulin level into a sugar spiral, and next come the cravings – and that’s what we truly want to avoid. The dreaded cravings. You don’t need a personal training certification to know that’s bad news!

Still, even though looking for low carb choices on the typical fast food menu can be very difficult, there are also a lot of low carb choices which are available if you get creative. One of the things to consider is that you most likely aren’t going to have the option to choose directly off of the standard menu. Unfortunately, there is not a section of the menu at McDonald’s, as of this writing, called “Low Carb.” Although, McDonald’s, if you’re listening, that might not be a bad idea! Still, it is not currently the case, therefore we will need to improvise. Pretend that you are doing niche marketing and you have to use your imagination.

Take a look at things on the list of availabilities and decide which thing you like. Think about this – what were your favorite foods from McDonald’s before you embarked on your new low carb life? Then brainstorm various ways in which you could turn it to low carb. Could you change that soda to a diet soda? Could you remove the bread from that burger you ate whole before? Could you replace the fries for a low carb side dish? Could you just forgo dessert totally? Absolutely you could, and those are exactly the kind of smart, new decisions you must begin making to benefit both your weight and your health. Think about why you started the diet – was it because you noticed cheating spouse signs? – that will keep you strong.

Also, if you are unable to find menu choices that you yourself are able to turn into a low carb item on your own, you could always ask the counter staff or manager if they could make something for you that’s not on the menu. I’ve had mixed success with that myself. Your best bet would be to go to one McDonald’s branch most often and get to know the staff at that location. Always be friendly and greet them by name. If you become a person to the staff instead of a number, then they will always be quite a bit more likely to create individual meals just for you.
