An adult should be aware of how their kids are interacting with others when they go online. This means that when parents are buying games for children, they can check the rating to know whether or not the game is appropriate for their children.

Just like adults can become alcoholics, a child can become a gameoholic. It is not something that can be ignored by adults. Do not depend on your kids to place limits on how much time they spend playing but instead be the one who decides what the rules are. Perhaps you can bring it out for use for a certain, limited number of hours each day. Have a child earn time to play on the systems by having them do chores or based on their grades in school to give them an incentive to do well.

The other thing parents should consider is the price of the games.
