It has been suggested that during childhood, babies up to age 2 should get an eye examination during routine pediatric doctor appointments. Once a child turns 3 and until the age 19 it has been suggested that an eye examination is scheduled every 2 years. For adults age 20 to 29 with no existing issues, one vision screening during this period of time may be appropriate. By the ages of 30 to 39, only two exams during this period are advised.
