Making good, high quality wine that resonates and stays on the palate long after it has left your mouth is one of the sure signs of a winery’s success in brewing an unforgettable vino. This age-old, super skilled profession is not as simple as it seems. A lot of research, experimentation and effort goes into making that bottle of exquisite wine.
Wine making starts with picking up the ingredients for primary flavor, which in this case would be grapes. Merlot is a variety of red grapes used in making many exquisite wines with a special hint of other flavors as well. Most of the Merlot Wines have an added fruit-flavor including those of plum, berries and currant amongst others. The Bordeaux wine is also made with the same variety of grapes.
For making wines, grapes are crushed and then subjected to fermentation to get the right kind of color and flavor. When white wine is being made, red grapes are crushed and then left in a manner which does not allows juices to pick up color by coming in contact with their skins and when making Rose wine, the juices are allowed to pick up a little pink color form the skin of the grapes. It is this difference in the process which helps in making entirely different varieties of wines from the same grapes.
Even when the fermentation is going on, a little of yeast is made to come in contact with the grapes. This helps in transforming the element of sugar present in the grapes into ethanol and carbon dioxide. The remaining portion of sugar slowly turns into alcohol and later they are put in oak barrels before being bottled.
Wine makers know very well that Merlot grapes can serve as an excellent blending agent while making wines. They offer the opportunity to come up with new flavors by carefully blending them with other varieties of grapes. If done successfully, the new flavor could well be a novel addition to the wine collection being developed.
Other grapes that are just as popularly grown as the Merlot are:
– Cabernet Savignon
– Cabernet Franc
– Petit Verdot
– Malbec
All these bring a specific taste and texture to the wines they produce in the end and are essential in their own way in creating a new blend or texture. The Cabernet Savignon, for example, is highly resistant and hardy to rot and frost. This brings out a different varietal, particularly the green pepper flavor of which it is famous for. Like the Cabernet Savignon, all the other grapes have their own unique flavor and these are brought out during the pressing and fermentation processes.
Specific varieties of grapes like Merlot can be used to make different flavors and textures come together which makes it easy to develop innovative wines. The taste of the wine directly depends on the flavors and textures of the grapes and the way they are fermented.
Wineries also benefit from their location in terms of climate and the nature of soil. In these terms, California offers some of the best conditions for a winery. That is perhaps why Bogle Phantom along with a variety of other wines are brewed with greater ease in the wineries of California.
It is a luxurious blend of spice and berry which sets the stage for the melodramatic flavors of Bogle Phantom as one of the most exquisite wines made in the region. It serves to bring together the rich aromas of fig, anise and black pepper, complemented by a refreshing touch of cloves and vanilla. Taking the cue, fruit-like flavors lend that octave of harmony to its taste and texture which is but rare to find elsewhere. Experts recommend it as one of the finest wines which lets one experience a wide palate of flavors without bringing in the slightest of discordance.
Bogle Phantom presents an even richer taste when bottled for long enough, as is the case with most of the other wines. However, the three varieties of its classy flavor are what make the experience of wine tasting all the more special for Bogle Phantom. Known as the creators of this unique wine, Bogle vineyards are the proud wine brewers of the variety, thus showcasing their creativity and ingenuity in the best possible manner.
Jade Varnes loves wine and she recommends wines like plumpjack, Rombauer, malbec, bogle phantom, cakebread cellars, just to name a few. To see and understand more choices of the different wines available , visit wineaccess.com for more information.
