Lots of people think of healthy as not having a problem or disease in your body. The fact is, health is actually a total state of having optimum physical and mental wellness. If you are trying to be healthy the first thing you need to do when you come home from a day at work is not to collapse on the couch in a state of exhaustion. Health and well-being means you possess enough energy to really get the most out of your free time and not just be a couch potato. A healthy person looks forward to the aging process, instead of being concerned about disease.

No one else is as considered about your health care as you. This requires that you take control of your own health. The vital first step is to ensure that your body is receiving all necessary micronutrients.

Micronutrients are crucial for survival if they are are taken in small amounts. Minerals and vitamins are the most common micronutrients. They are dietary substances that organisms only need small amounts of, but this is not to say that they are unimportant – on the contrary, they are often vital for biological function.

In the Journal of the American Medical Association several studies published between 1966 and 2002 highlight the fact that signs of vitamin deficiency, such as scurvy, are not shown by many people. Most people have some form of vitamin deficiency, due to lack of intake.
