Sclerotherapy involves injecting medicines into the problematic veins to make them shrink. These may or may not be needed in all cases and the surgeon takes a call in this regard. Some minor as well as major complications may occur in this treatment. Minor complications include bruises and temporary numbness. Their chances however are very slight. Major complications such as injury to retina and skin burns occur in less than one percent of total cases
