Find Out if You Need New Dentures

It seems pretty obvious when you initially need to visit a dentist Melbourne practitioner for new dentures. Teeth can fall out at some point in your life, in which case, artificial replacements may be necessary. You should know though that initial tooth loss is not the only time you may have to request a dentist to reproduce the appearance of your oral structures.
There are a number of explanations as to why teeth don’t stay put. You may lose your pearly whites because of trauma or cavities among other things. Once gaps appear in your smile, you may naturally want to get them filled because you want to look your best. This is especially because the absence of teeth can change facial features dramatically. From a professional standpoint though, there are times when full or partial dentures are required not just for the sake of looking great. The consequences of tooth loss can also encompass alignment and bite problems.
There are two types of dentures for you to consider. Depending on your dental condition, you may have to request for full dentures or partial ones. Common sense will tell you that you will most likely need a full set if most of your teeth have come off. Only a dentist however can evaluate the exact condition of your oral structures. Even if you think all you need is a partial set, a dentist may still recommend having complete dentures made for you.
After you get your false teeth, you may be able to make do with them for an extended period of time. It is not possible however to maintain only one set for your entire lifespan. Your dentures may no longer be sensitive to decay but a dentist still needs to check its retention and stability especially if a long time has passed since you first had your set made.
A lot of people actually take for granted that artificial dental structures don’t last forever. Your new set is therefore still prone to wear and tear no matter how well constructed it is or how durable the material is. This however, is not the only impending issue with new dentures. Aside from wearing off, they could eventually become ill fitting. Despite having been made to specifically fit you, your gums and internal bone structure will eventually change through time. Hence, false structures may become loose or may become misaligned.
Sometimes, adhesives may be recommended to take care of loose fitting dentures. This however does not always provide a complete solution. Soft tissues may form in between gaps. This can mean bad news for you because adhesives may be good at retaining structures but bad at keeping them stable. In other words, your dentures could stay where they are stuck but they could wobble or move around uncomfortably. This may actually be a source of embarrassment in social situations.
You may not want to request for new dentures. If you already have a set on, you might think it will be all you will ever need for the rest of your life. Do keep in mind that nothing lasts forever, including your false teeth. Have yours checked by a Windsor dentist to see when you might need a fresh set.
