The slushie was purportedly invented in about the year 1800 in a bar named Venus in Santiago, Chile, approximately 23 miles east of the Tiano iron mine, by a team of U.S. mining technical engineers. Tales persist that Jennings Cox developed the drink when he completely ran out of gin when entertaining American friends.
In the beginning the slushie was dished up in a large glass loaded with cracked ice. A tsp of sugar was poured over the ice and the liquid of one or two limes was squeezed on to the sugar. 2 or three ounces of rum finished the mixture. The glass was then frosted by mixing with a long handled spoon.
Later on the Slushee developed to be mixed in a shaker with identical ingredients but with shaved ice instead. After a thorough shaking, it was poured into a perfectly chilled flute glass.
Consumption of the slushie drink remained local until 1909, when Admiral Lucius W. Johnson, a U.S. Navy health officer, tried Cox’s drink. Johnson consequently launched it into the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C.
The slushie became progressively more popular and the slushie spread across North & South America rapidly, until Prohibition in the United states of america (1920–1933) slowed the momentum substantially. However, once alcohol was made legitimate again in the US, the idea of the slushie spread rapidly across north America, and the craze passed on around the globe. The slushie stayed well-liked till the 1960’s, when various recreational drugs grew to become well-liked.
These days the frozen slushie device happens to be very popular. A Slush Machine creates an instant frozen slushie. The slushie mix which is a blend of fresh fruit and water, is put in to the slushie machine and within just 1 hour the device creates frozen slushies without all the hassle of blending every drink. It is this ease in producing the drinks that has seen the widespread use of slushie machines at all types of functions. Slush Machine Hire has become very popular for weddings celebrations and corporate occasions throughout the planet.
