The Easter Gifts With Surprising Ideas

In France, it is popular to give ideas about Easter eggs as gifts, just as Louis XIV had given golden eggs to his flatterers. In Italy, families eat salami, eggs and cheesecake for breakfast and then picnic with lamb, broad beans and sheep’s milk cheese.

The Irish celebrate Easter with a dawn dance, a herring funeral and a cake dance, which dates to pre-Christian times. In Germany, “Oschter Haws” (the Easter bunny) brings colored eggs for the children and in Russia, they paint their own intricate designs on a hollowed-out Fabergé eggs. While Easter Sunday is typically observed as a religious holiday with mass and dinner, there are many thoughtful Easter gifts to share as well.

Easter baskets are the most thoughtful gifts to give children during this spring holiday. What could be more fun than hunting through the house or backyard to find a treasure trove of surprises?

An Easter basket itself is, of course, an important component. It could be handmade using the child’s favorite colors or purchased from a store. Jelly Beans, marshmallow Peeps, Cadbury chocolate eggs, Kinder eggs, Reese’s peanut butter eggs, Easter-colored M&Ms, malt eggs and chocolate Easter bunnies are popular Easter candy to include.

Coloring and activity books with crayons and stickers are fun for younger children looking to express themselves. Since the weather is finally warming up, items like kites, jump ropes, bouncy balls, sidewalk chalk and bubbles are entertaining too. Plush rabbits, ducks or lambs are irresistible for children 12 and under too.

Of all the ways to celebrate Easter, giving the Easter gift of candy is probably the most popular. Each year, over $1.9 billion Easter candy items get churned out to eager Americans.

For Christians, Lent is a time of fasting and sacrifices, so their first taste of meat again, such as eggs, ham and lamb, is quite a treat in and of itself. Baskets can be packed with goodies, eggs can be dyed and perhaps a parade can even be soaked in! In addition to actual hardboiled and dyed eggs, Easter eggs can also be made of Jellybeans, chocolate, marshmallows or plastic, which can be hidden or used to enclose a treat.

Card giving can’t possibly rival Christmas, Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day cards, but Easter is, in fact, the fourth most popular holiday for sending cards, says American Greetings.

Like most other cards, the Easter card first came from Victorian era England. There are Christian Easter cards, Easter Bunny cards or springtime greetings. Today, people may choose from traditional paper cards or free online greeting cards deliverable by email.
